On this night of nights it's all about whakapapa and groovy
home-grown sounds.
Aotearoa's fantastic musical past is rocketed into the future in
this epic concert, as classic Māori anthems take centre stage for
all New Zealanders to enjoy. From Tūtira Mai Nga Iwi to
Blue Smoke, these golden waiata are redressed in all the
finery offered by today's outstanding New Zealand musicians.
Modern-day musos with old school charm continue the legacy of
iconic Māori maestros such as Howard Morrison, Prince Tui Teka and
Billy T James. In these deeply-Antipodean versions of 60s and 70s
chart toppers, even Ten Guitars comes to life in
psychedelic splendour with 10 top guitarists.
It'll be a surprising night filled with wonderfully revitalised
renditions of all your favourite hits from The Yoots!, Annie
Crummer, Maisey Rika, Anika Moa, Will Crummer and The Rarotongans,
Ria Hall, Seth Haapu, Hinewehi Mohi, Te Waka Huia, St Joseph's
Māori Girls' School and the legendary John Rowles.
Get your glad rags on, your song sheets out and get into it, New
Zealand.
# In a nutshell: Kiwi crooners, class acts and good times.
