KO E HALA HANGATONU: The Straight Path

Robin White with Ruha Fifita New Zealand and Tonga

Robin White and collaborator Ruha Fifita have worked with a community of experienced tapa makers in Tonga to deliver a breathtaking new work. The immense barkcloth painting installation Ko e Hala Hangatonu: The Straight Path brings together customary forms and patterns of traditional Tongan culture, images from modern life, and the ideas and processes of contemporary art.
