I Heart Alice Heart I takes public displays of
affection to dramatic new heights.
Meet Alice Kinsella and Alice Slattery - two gentle and retiring
Irish sexagenarians who stole a kiss in the condiments aisle of a
local supermarket, got spotted by a theatre director, and were
coaxed into sharing their life-long love story with a live theatre
audience.
The result is a stirring and captivatingly intimate piece of
theatre that traces the Alices' story of deep and abiding love for
each other. Over cups of tea and slices of pound cake, the unlikely
couple describe their life dramas - chance meetings, infidelity,
battles with cancer, overseas trips - in a way that tugs at
humanity and warms the hardest of hearts.
Written, directed and performed by Amy Conroy with co-creator
and actor Claire Barrett, this fresh, frank and hilarious play,
which gained plaudits from the audience at Abbey Theatre, will
bring out the heart in you.
